to the 7th International Epilepsy Colloquium with Status Epilepticus Satellite and International Epilepsy Course
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Use of Invasive Electrodes
May 28 – 31, 2014
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is our great pleasure to invite you to j the 7th International Epilepsy Colloquium and the 7th International Epilepsy Course in the historic university town of Marburg. The program looks very promising and eminent international opinion leaders have agreed to speak and teach. Just as in our previous editions a large amount of time will be devoted to discussion on current essential issues.
The International Epilepsy Colloquia (IEC) represent a joint initiative from several major epilepsy centers: CLEVELAND's Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals Case Medical Center in the USA, the MARBURG Epilepsy Center in GERMANY, the LYON University Hospital and Grenoble University Hospital in FRANCE. Recently, the Epilepsy Center, UCL LONDON, UK and the Epilepsy Center, ERLANGEN, GERMANY joined.
Since 2008 all Colloquium centers have organized highly successful focussed meetings which have addressed major topics pertaining to clinical epileptology and epilepsy surgery at the following Colloquia:
- The Mesial Temporal Lobe Epilepsies (MARBURG, June 2008),
- Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery (LYON, May 2009),
- Extra-Temporal Lobe Epilepsies (CLEVELAND, May 2010),
- Epilepsy Surgery for Remote Symptomatic Epilepsies (MARBURG, June 2011)
- Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery (LYON, May 2012) and
- Tumoral Epilepsy and Epilepsy Surgery (CLEVELAND, May 2013)
Several of these Colloquia have resulted in book or special issues in international journals.
This year, the colloquium will intensively discuss the diagnostic and therapeutic use of invasive electrodes epilepsy. This year a satelllite symposium on status epilepticus will be part of the colloquium.
We will have a poster session and all participants are encouraged to submit posters on either invasive electrodes or status epilepticus to share clinical experience in these fields. The three best posters will be honoured. Deadline for abstract submission is the 31st of march.
Thanks to the DGfE (German Society for Epileptology) five travel bursaries for young poster presenters under the age of 35 are offered, please find the application on our website.
In the following 2-day comprehensive epilepsy course important aspects of clinical epilepsy treatment and diagnosis will be discussed interactively besed on educative case-presentations. After each case. a take-home message for the relevant clinical problem will be given.
We look forward to an inspiring meeting and to having you in Marburg!
